Event Details

Billion Oyster Project offers two unique ways to bring live oysters directly to your students: the Oyster Research Station (ORS) program and the Oyster Research Tank (ORT) program. Each program requires a full-day training to familiarize educators with tools and processes, and to practice several lessons from our free, inquiry-based accompanying units. Choose which one - or both - is the best for you!

If you’re excited about taking students outdoors to monitor live oysters at one of our 25 ORS sites around the harbor, sign up for the Oyster Research Station (ORS) Training. If you prefer to keep live oysters in your classroom, sign up for the Oyster Research Tank (ORT) Training.

In each training, teachers can expect to:

Oyster Research Station (ORS) - Learn how to prepare to take students into the field, and monitor an ORS over time
Oyster Research Tank (ORT) - Learn through hands-on activities how to set up and monitor an oyster tank with students in your classroom
Explore BOP’s accompanying ORS or ORT units, and consider how they can be used in your classroom
Receive a kit of supplies
Connect with other Billion Oyster Project teachers
