Scyposium Community Science Forum
We’re excited to introduce our inaugural Scyposium Community Science Forum!
The Scyposium is a showcase and networking opportunity for adult educators, community scientists as well as college and graduate level students working on harbor and estuary-themed research projects and data-based advocacy campaigns. It is intended as a complement to and extension of our Symposium for students.
About the event
Scyposium will take place on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4-6 pm ET. Applications to present at Scyposium are due by June 1, 2021.
The first 90 minutes of the Scyposium will be run as a webinar, with 3-5 minute ‘flash’ presentations by 10-12 community scientists and brief presentations from Billion Oyster Project on the state of our restoration projects and our water quality testing program. The final lineup of selected presentations will be posted for review 2-3 days in advance of the Scyposium.
The session will conclude with a brief keynote address by an established scientist, researcher or advocate - stay tuned! This portion of the event is open to all and we particularly encourage interested high school students to attend to learn more about research and careers related to New York Harbor.
The last 30 minutes of the event will be a separate Zoom chat for presenters and other invited community scientists, with the aim of developing relationships and potential future collaborations.
