Educators! Come learn about water quality testing techniques, how they're used and how students can analyze water quality in classrooms.
About this event
In this online two part water quality workshop led by CUNY Brooklyn College, teachers will learn about dissolved oxygen (DO) in this first session, how they are used and how your students can analyze water quality in the classroom. Nutrients in water such as nitrogen and phosphorus are essential to life, but excessive amounts can cause algae to grow faster than ecosystems can handle. Significant increases in algae harm water quality and can disturb the ecosystem balance that other aquatic life need to thrive.
It is not mandatory to attend both workshops of this two-part training. You can attend one or both offerings of this water quality workshop!
This 1.5-hour workshop will demonstrate the methods used to test water quality parameters, and how to analyze the resulting data to determine marine/estuarine health around NYC. CTLE credits are available for teachers!
