Why Oyster Reefs?

January 23, 2018

Oyster reefs are in demand. They help to protect New York City from storm damage—softening the blow of large waves, reducing flooding, and preventing erosion along the shorelines. They also invite biodiversity (remember the whales visiting NYC waters last summer)? In a matter of weeks, a new reef will be colonized with thousands of various animals.
