We look forward to seeing you next Friday on Governors Island for the first annual BOP Science Symposium!

The Symposium is the culminating event of the first year of our NSF supported “Curriculum and Community Enterprise for Restoration Science” (CCE-RS) project and its central pillar, the BOP Teacher Training Fellowship at Pace University.

BOP teachers, scientists and STEM professionals: The Symposium is an opportunity to celebrate and share your work with a fantastic community of NYC public school teachers and students. The morning will be devoted to research presentations, informal networking, and tours of BOP/Harbor School facilities. BBQ Lunch will be provided and the day will conclude with an exclusive sneak preview performance of the acclaimed oyster musical “Salty Folk” by the environmental theater arts/science collaborative Superhero Clubhouse. We expect to have 20 teachers and approximately 250 students in attendance representing more than 15 schools and organizations.

We ask that scientists and STEM professionals please bring a poster or multi media display of your research to share with teachers and students during the informal poster walk/networking session. Tables, chairs and electrical outlets will be provided.

Not a bad way to spend your Friday: enjoying New York Harbor and talking with students that eagerly want to know what you do!

Members of the public and citizen scientists: You’re invited too!  Come learn more about BOP, and investigate ways to get involved with this innovative project.  BOP is for students and teachers and researchers– and all New Yorkers.

Invitation and details are in a downloadable flier here. Please email or call with questions and to RSVP– and please print and post or forward the flier to your networks!

Thanks and hope to see you Friday!
