School’s out! If you’re looking for a way to integrate BOP into your summer plans, here’s a selection of what we’ve got going on– and be sure to follow @BillionOyster on Twitter for late-breaking event news and more opportunities!

Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday throughout July:  Join us at the BOP House in Nolan Park on Governors Island! Hands-on learning opportunities, a crash course in oyster history and ecology, and the chance to speak with BOP summer associates: this is the center of BOP for the summer.  We’re looking for volunteer exhibit guides as well – go here to sign up; you’ll get trained and briefed, and have the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of BOP!

July 5, 8 & 15:  Come volunteer to do hands-on restoration work! We need your help to get this done: here’s your opportunity! Sign up here.

July 6, 13, 20 & 27:  We’ll be at Boardwalk Days at South Beach on Staten Island every Wednesday throughout July! Stop by and say hello, and take the chance to ask our outreach staff all your pressing BOP-related questions!

July 9, 12-5 p.m.: Join us for a BOP benefit and celebration at Pier 115 Bar & Grill in New Jersey

July 16, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.:  Join BOP on Governors Island for Waterfront Alliance’s City of Water Day! For one day every year, cardboard kayak racing and oyster-based education opportunities intersect: don’t miss it!

July 20, 7-11 p.m.: Join BOP at an event in support of the Lonely Whale Foundation, our co-workers in marine health and reconnection.  To learn more about the event, email Emma Riley at emma at lonelywhale dot org– and be sure to check out their site above!
