A message from our hosts:

On Friday, September 25th, Amanda’s Restaurant warmly welcomes two environmental pioneers for an evening in support of the Billion Oyster Project.
Peter Malinowski, Co-Founder and Director of the Billion Oyster Project (www.billionoysterproject.org) will enlighten us about the exciting work being done to enhance the NY/NJ Harbor. The group is devoted to ecosystem restoration and education with the goal of seeding one billion live oysters into the waters of NY/NJ Harbor.
Oyster reefs were once prevalent in NY Harbor—during the 19th century, New Yorkers consumed a million oysters a day! The reefs were an important part of the ecosystem by filtering water and providing habitat for other marine species.
Peter Yealands (www.yealands.co.nz) is one of the world’s most sustainable wineries with the goal of being energy self-sufficient and carbon negative. Their Wine Ambassador, Randy Fabian, will lead us through the intricacies of some of New Zealand’s best wines.
The New York/New Jersey Harbor is Hoboken’s front yard. The idea that someday future generations could enjoy and consume shellfish harvested right off our shore is thrilling. We are delighted to be part of a delicious, thirst-quenching example of healthy earth stewardship!
