An Oyster Reef Grows in the Bronx

NY Times recently did an outstanding feature piece on the reef restoration taking place at the mouth of the Bronx River. The piece featured Harbor School aquaculture students as they trasnported their oysters from the Wallabout Basin Nursery north along the East River aboard Harbor School’s restored buoy tender, the Privateer….

Underwater Science Platform Coming to NY Harbor

BOP and Harbor School have recently begun a multi-year partnership with YSI Inc and Wild Goose Imaging to create NY Harbor’s first comprehensive underwater monitoring platform. The project is funded by Verizon’s Innovation Center and is expected to enter the first phase of construction in April 2014. We are VERY excited about the tremendous capacity this platform will bring to BOP, Harbor School, and all New Yorkers.
